Chairman of CPEC Lieutenant General (retired)Aim Saleem Bajwa declared on Tuesday that the second Phase of CPEC is all set to kick off with “full deliberation and conscience transparency”
Chairman Bajwa said that in the second phase of CPEC the Pakistan Railway will be completely revamped, he said this while addressing a signing ceremony between Chinese companies and CPEC in the location of Taxila
A railway track from Peshawar to Karachi will be laid fully fenced and covering distance of 1800km, a dry port will be constructed at Havelian and a new transmission system will be made. All the current railway crossings are going to be switched into overhead bridges and underpasses based on latest infrastructural procedures, Increasing the speed and profits of Railway.
He said that special economic zones will be created in all provinces, mass industrialization will take place and we have already decided the first three preferred zones. He also mentioned the Heavy mechanical Complex will also be playing a very vital role reducing import of machinery. He also stressed on all the companies to give orders to HMC for their demands of machinery and parts.
It also aims to give employment to the youth of Pakistan hence bringing the human resource to fulfill the requirements of industrialization. Chairman Bajwa emphasized on manufacturing heavy agricultural machinery in heavy mechanical complex as Pakistan is moving towards smart management of farms, saying that even Covid-19 has not affected the progress that we are determined to make.
Eight projects under CPEC have already been completed and nine are under production, only phase one had $12.5b. He added saying that “Rather than going into business to business collaboration with the Chinese firms, we are interested in the foreign direct investment, we are focused on entrepreneurs coming to Pakistan and partnering with Pakistani business,”
He encouraged people to be optimistic and be hopeful as organizations have taken a lot of steps under CPEC, there has been so much work done over last months that people will witness.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Ms Naghmana A Hashmi, addressed on the event, and congratulated the HMC and partnering companies on opting the opportunities given under CPEC.
She said the ceremony was taking place in an adjusted format via video link, which showed the ability of Pakistan and China to adapt to the conditions and forge ahead with their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership regardless of the challenges or circumstances.
CPEC has further shown the depth of Pakistan- China friendship, she added by saying that the next phase of CPEC is going to result in excellent quality of development which is going to manufacturing capacities and up gradation. After the situation of this pandemic business collaboration between HMC and renowned Chinese companies will result in mutual industrial capacity teamwork.
